| About Alder Cottage |
Cottage rental includes |
| Alder Cottage is located within walking distance of the tranquil village of Kinlochard. This detached cottage is situated within six acres of private ground, within the heart of the Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park. The cottage is ramp accessible. The lounge is comfortable and bright, with patio doors leading out into the garden. The kitchen/dining area is fully fitted and well equipped. There is a downstairs bunkroom and cloakroom. The first floor has a double and a twin bedroom, both spacious and light, with pine floors. The quarter acre private garden is fully enclosed with a lovely view over to Ben Lomond, with woodland behind. There is access onto the hillside and woodland behind the cottage, where red squirrels, deer, foxes and wild goats can be spotted and where eagles and ospreys soar in the sky and pine marten hide in the trees. This is a fantastic location for outdoor enthusiasts, as the vast Queen Elizabeth Forest right is right on the door step. There are endless miles of forest roads and trails to explore for ramblers and cyclists to enjoy and The Trossachs has spectacular mountains to climb, including Ben Lomond, Ben A'an, Ben Venue and Ben Ledi. Loch Ard itself is stunning, with small islands and a crannog to explore. Canada geese are resident and many different species of birds and ducks can be found by the loch. The Trossachs has many lochs for fishing or canoeing adventures. A gentle walk along the loch side gives access to the hotel complex's facilities and bar. Clay pigeon shooting, farm tours, guided walks, 4x4 safari's, quad biking and sailing are available (some seasonal). In the surrounding area there are lots of other activities for every age and interests. For the adventurous there is a high wire forest adventure, with the longest zip wire in Britain at Aberfoyle where there is also an 18-hole golf course. From this central location you can easily travel and explore. It is an area steeped in history and there are lots of places of interest to visit. The Glengoyne Distillery producing Highland Single Malt Whisky, is only 12 miles south at Dumgoyne. The Loch Katrine Steamship Sir Walter Scott is a great cruise. Blair Drummond Safari Park is only a half hour drive away and a visit to Stirling can provide lots of historical places of interest to explore or a spot of retail therapy. |
