| About Chippermore Cottage |
Cottage rental includes |
| Chippermore Cottage occupies a superb elevated site with stunning views over Luce Bay, the Isle of Man and the Mull of Galloway. This delightful, detached cottage enjoys a wonderful, cosy ambience that virtually compels guests to relax and unwind. This most scenic of Scottish regions is a superb holiday destination but any stay should begin with a quiet hour spent in front of the open fire while casting the occasional glance out to sea. The property is set within an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty with much of the local area designated as a Special Area of Conservation. It is an idyllic location for nature lovers with a rich variety of flora and fauna. Film buffs will enjoy visiting nearby Burrow Head, location for the infamous closing scenes of the cult film 'The Wickerman'. This area is renowned for it lovely sandy beaches typified by the beautiful coastline to be found at Craignarget in the north and a Monreith to the south. Monreith House was for a time the family home of the internationally regarded wildlife author Gavin Maxwell, whose work regarding otters was the inspiration for the film 'Ring of Bright Water'. Overlooking Monreith Bay there is a memorial in the form of a bronze otter dedicated to the famous author, who often took his pet otter to the beach for a spell of exercise. For booklovers of all tastes and interests, Wigtown, Scotland's National Book Town, is less than a half hour's enjoyable drive away and besides playing host to a prestigious, annual literary festival, it is also a pleasant little town of charm and character and well worth a visit. Scotland's most southerly distillery sits beside the luscious green banks of the River Bladnoch, from which it takes its name. It has been producing the "Spirit of the Lowlands" and delighting visitors with a "wee dram" since 1817. This beautiful region is relatively unchanged and unspoilt and is an ideal location for a wide range of outdoor activities including walking, golfing and cycling with a great choice of 7Stanes venues for some world class mountain biking. Chippermore Cottage is situated in a place full of dramatic and windswept beauty, myth and legend which will leave an indelible impression on visitorsProperty is all at ground floor level has oil central heating. |
