A truly stunning property standing on historic Valencia Island with dramatic views over the Portmagee channel to the fishing village of Portmagee and beyond. In addition to the spacious accommodation, the property also features a large enclosed garden with fabulous views and patio area. The island is home to the famous Tetrapod footprints believed to be the oldest in the world! The Ring of Kerry road is only fifteen minutes away and Portmagee only 5 minutes away - a perfect location with dramatic views over the Portmagee channel to the fishing village of Portmagee and the Skellig rocks.

Owner's description: Welcome. "Sceilig View", a beautiful new detached holiday home on Valencia Island, has panoramic sea and mountain views, and 4 stars from the Irish Tourist Authority. It is built in traditional style with enclosed garden, patio area and garden furniture. It is in a quiet rural setting, at the end of a private road and very suitable for children. "Sceilig View" is a 5 min walk from the seaside and 5km from a sandy beach. Portmagee fishing village with shops, restaurants, pubs, etc. is 1.5km away. The house is wheelchair accessible and has a digitally controlled oil heating and hot water system and separate water immersion heating. The open-plan living/dining area has a raised fireplace of local slate and generous glazing for the panoramic views, with double doors to a patio overlooking the sea. It has very comfortable furniture, TV, DVD player, dining table and chairs, modern lighting and contemporary wall pictures. The kitchen has integrated appliances and a breakfast counter, plus oven and hob, fridge freezer, dishwasher, microwave, toaster and kettle. Separate utility room with sink, washing machine and dryer. Short hallway leads from living area to downstairs bedroom (double bed) and bathroom. Upstairs are four bedrooms and a shower room. The main bedroom (king size bed) is en suite. The 2nd bedroom has a double bed; bedrooms 3and4 each have two single beds. All bedrooms have generous storage space (wardrobe and chest of drawers) lockers, bed side lamps, mirrors etc. Cot and high chair and all towels, bed linen, duvets and pillows are supplied. Non-smoking house, no pets. Valencia Island, just off the scenic Ring of Kerry route, is one of the most beautiful areas of Ireland. Visitors return for its wild beauty, tranquility, hospitality and to explore the island and its history. Relax and breathe the fresh Atlantic breeze, and go home refreshed. The island is linked to the mainland by bridge at Portmagee and in high season by a roll-on, roll-off ferry from Cahersiveen. The island is steeped in history. The Tetrapod fossil footprints - from about 360 million years ago - are among the oldest in the world. The slate quarry has supplied top quality slate all over the world (including London' s Houses of Parliament) since 1816. The first transatlantic cable was laid between Valencia Island and Newfoundland in 1865 - a monument is on the island. The lighthouse dates from 1841. Glanleam House was home of the Knight of Kerry; its sub-tropical gardens are open to the public. Knightstown or Portmagee offer boat trips to the Skelligs' 6th century monastic settlement - a World Heritage Site 12kms offshore. The Skellig Experience is a permanent exhibition of its history, archaeology, birdlife and sealife. On Valencia Island you can enjoy peaceful cliff top walks, shore angling or swim at the secluded beach at Glanleam, 5km. Neighbouring South Kerry has beautiful beaches, mountain walks, water sports, cycling, horse riding, etc. At Portmagee you can watch the fishermen land their catch and sample fresh fish in the local restaurant. Enjoy traditional Irish entertainment in the pub. Knightstown, a pretty seaside village has pubs, restaurants, coffee shops, etc. and car ferry to Cahersiveen, plus sea-angling and diving trips. Ballinskelligs (10km) offers a wonderful blue flag beach, visits to the local chocolate factory and to Cill Rialaig famine village and artists' retreat, with artists from all over the world. Horse riding is available locally. Cahersiveen with its marina and Waterville with its championship golf course and superb fresh water fishing in Lough Currane are 13km. Regattas and seine boat races are held locally in summer. Eating Out: You are spoiled for choice. There are many cafes, pub restaurants and gourmet restaurants with the speciality of fresh seafood. Day Trips: drive the scenic Ring of Kerry route or visit the idyllic town of Kenmare. Killarney National Park has beautiful lakes and mountains, famously abundant flora and fauna and Ireland's highest mountain, Carrauntoohil (1,039m.). Killarney offers wide choice in shopping, pubs and restaurants, Muckross House and Muckross traditional farms, the museum of Irish Transport, National Farm Museum and the model railway. Dingle Peninsula makes an ideal day trip, with Dingle Oceanworld and Fungie the Dolphin, a regular visitor to Dingle Bay. Kerry's famous "Crag Caves" at Castleisland, a million years old, are a colourful wonderland of stalagmites and stalagtites. Tralee's Aquadome waterworld complex is a treat for the family. Ride the steam train from Tralee to Blenerville's 200 year old restored windmill. Nearest International Airport Kerry (65km). Nearest Ferry Port Cork (140km). Nearest Railway Station Killarney ( 65km).
