| About Dunpark |
Cottage rental includes |
| This lovely cottage is situated amidst open croftland close to the edge of the shore overlooking the spectacular Sound of Sleat in the south of the Isle of Skye. There are mesmerising seascapes across the Sound of the Knoydart peninsula on the far side from the cottage and the garden grounds. Set in 3/4 acre of gardens adjoining the owner's croftland, Dunpark enjoys an enviable setting in this area known as the 'garden of Skye'. Dunpark gets its name from a prominent rock formation that juts out into the sea just below the cottage, providing a striking focal point from the main lounge windows. This traditional cottage has recently been upgraded and refurbished by the Macdonald family. The bright, attractive lounge, with its large picture windows, modern kitchen / dining room and pretty, spacious bedrooms all combine to offer visitors a warm welcoming holiday in an exceptionally spectacular setting. The southern end of this beautiful Isle is renowned for its beautiful coastline and miles of stunning scenery. There are superb walks along the shore line direct from the property. Within walking distance is the only Gaelic College in Scotland, Sabhal Mor Ostaig. Nearby Armadale Castle, seat of the Clan Donald, with its superb gardens and grounds set in 20,000 acres, also houses a renowned museum, the Clandonald Centre, which is well worth a visit. Boat excursions to see the seals, dolphins, porpoises and whales that frequent this part of the coast run from Armadale harbour are also highly recommended. The ferry also sails from here across to Mallaig on the mainland - ideal for a day trip to Fort William and for exploring the lovely white sandy beaches of the West coast mainland. The Sleat peninsula is renowned for its superb walking, climbing, bird watching and beautiful fauna and flora. It also offers easy access to a wealth of historical sites and places of interest. The fairy tale castle of Eilean Donan, the sea port of Kyle of Lochalsh, the otter centre at Kyleakin, a distillery and ancient historical sites are all within easy reach. The Isle of Skye is noted for its fine dining and superb local produce and this area is no exception. An award winning restaurant is also just 1.5 miles away and Lady Claire Macdonald's renowned restaurant and shop at Kinloch Lodge is within 15 minutes drive.Property is all on one level has electric storage heaters. |
