About Glen Cottage
Cottage rental includes
Situated in the grounds of Mouswald Place Mansion House, on land which once belonged to Robert the Bruce, Glen Cottage is one of three neat, self contained cottages offering a very comfortable base from which to explore the delights of the surrounding area. Carefully converted to offer light and modern decorated accommodation, each has been equipped to ensure your comfort at any time of the year, nestled beside the remains of a 14th Century chimney stack (once part of the original house built there). Also within the well kept grounds of the mansion – through which you are free to wander, are a mix of high quality residential and private holiday lodges. Situated only 2 ½ miles from the Solway coast and only 5 miles from a sandy beach, the cottages are ideally placed for exploring the beautifully undulating coastal countryside rich in flora and fauna – also a haven for bird watchers. The Wildlife and Wetland Trust at nearby Caerlaverock has ample to see and do, complete with nature trails for the children whilst the Drummuir Farm Ice Cream Parlour is also worth a visit. The town of Dumfries is only 5 miles away which has a variety of everyday shopping for all of your holiday needs. Alternatively nearby Gretna has a shopping complex along with the famous Old Blacksmith’s shop – one of Scotland’s oldest visitor attractions.
