| Nestled within a picturesque setting and boasting stunning uninterrupted rural views, the location of Greencroft is breathtaking. The property has recently undergone a major refurbishment by local talented craftsmen and has been totally transformed to provide superior self catering accommodation. Greencroft has been tastefully furnished throughout and simply oozes charm with features in abundance such as exposed stone work, authentic beams and wood burning stoves snuggled within inglenook fireplaces. Greencroft boasts a different lovely view from every window and sits at the entrance to a farm only a mile from the friendly village of Gilsland where local facilities including pubs, shops and a tea room are available. Haltwhistle, geographically acknowledged as ' The Centre of Britain' is only 5 miles east and Brampton offers many amenities 10 miles west; its golf course is often referred to as ' the jewel of Cumbria'. There is so much to see and do close by. The romantic medieval Naworth Castle with its 17th century walled gardens is often used in film productions and the English Heritage site of Lanercost Priory with its tea room and gift shop is well worth a visit. Fishing is available at Talking Tarn Country Park nearby; a 65 acre lake set amidst 120 acres of farmland and woodland and is idyllic for a quiet stroll. Sailing, wind surfing, canoe and mountain bike hire are all available too. A trip to Birdoswald Roman Fort is a fun family day out and birdwatchers will delight in Geltsdale RSPB reserve where fascinating hen harriers are frequently seen and ramblers will enjoy the many local walks close by. Greencroft sits close the the Northumbrian/Cumbrian border and is a superb rural retreat very close to Hadrian's Wall Country set in England's largest Heritage site within the most northerly of National Parks. Banks Turret is nearby and Vindolanda, Thirlwell Castle. The Roman Army Museum and Walltown Crags - the highest remaining section of Hadrian's Wall - are a;; within easy reach. Take the train from Haltwhistle or Brampton into Carlisle, only 20 miles west or travel east for an hour to the vibrant city of Netoiletastle. |
