Killaloe, Lough Derg, County Clare ref 6123 This wonderfully restored cottage sits just 4 miles outside of the heritage town of Killaloe close to the picturesque banks of Lough Derg. It has a loft style double bedroom with another bedroom alongside. Downstairs the living area oozes country charm. Offered alone or with adjoining property 6338: they can be combined to accommodate up to 12 people. There is an activities centre less than two miles away that offers sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and other sporting activities. Killaloe has many fine pubs and restaurants many with traditional music.

We are close to the picturesque banks of Lough Derg, and four miles from the heritage town of Killaloe, the ancient capital of All Ireland. The Cathedral dates back over 700 years.
The Activities Centre run by the University of Limerick is less than two miles from us. It offers to the public sailing, windsurfing, canoeing and other sporting activities. During the summer children's sailing and other courses are organized.
The surrounding mountains and forests have many scenic walks which include the Lough Derg Way and the East Clare Way.
There are a number of good, local restaurants and pubs often with traditional Irish music and dancing.
There are many places of interest in the area for all ages: Bunratty Castle and Folk Park, the Celtic settlement of Craggaunowen, the ancient cities of Limerick and Galway and the market towns of Nenagh and Ennis.
The west coast of County Clare has sandy beaches for safe swimming and surfing. There is a pebble beach with a lifeguard nearby. There are dolphins at Doolin and further along the coast are the magnificent Cliffs of Moher.
The unique area of The Burren with its unusual rock formations and plants, has a number of wedged tombs as well as the famous Poclabrone Dolman. Also in the Burren are the Aillwee Caves.
There are a number of scenic golf courses in the locality, with the outstanding East Clare Golf Club only 15 minutes drive away.
The Shannon region has a wonderful Atlantic coastline and a profusion of lakes and rivers which make the area a paradise for anglers and birdwatchers. Boats for hire for pleasure or fishing are available in Killaloe and Mountshannon.
There are a number of equestrian centres in the area offering indoor areas and pony trekking for riders at all levels.
Numerous festivals and events are organised throughout the summer months.
