| About Smiddy Cottage |
Cottage rental includes |
| Smiddy Cottage is a lovely stone built cottage, nestling in the beautiful Highland Perthshire countryside. A former working Smiddy, dating back over 100 years, the property has recently been refurbished and offers spacious and comfortable accommodation. Pitlochry is just 7 miles away and boasts a great number of shops, cafes and restaurants. Pitlochry is also home to the Festival Theatre, offering a number of plays and concerts throughout the season, Pitlochry dam and salmon ladder and just outside Pitlochry, Edradour distillery - Scotland's smallest distillery. In nearby Blair Atholl you will find Blair Castle. Visit this 13th century castle and spend some time in the gardens and grounds where you will find a sculpture trail, Hercules Garden, a 9 acre walled garden, and Diana's grove where you will see some of the country's finest trees including a grand fir which is Scotland's 2nd tallest. There are a great number of outdoor activities in the area with way marked trails for walkers and cyclists, corbett's and munro's for hill walking, fishing in the rivers Tay and Tummel (permits available locally) and pony trekking. There are numerous 9 and 18 hole golf courses and a wide range of water sports with white water rafting, canoeing, canyoning and river bugging to name a few. Take a trip to Aberfeldy and visit the watermill; this listed mill is now a bookshop, gallery and cafe. Continue on to Kenmore and visit the Scottish Crannog Centre, where you can learn about life in these ancient loch dwellings. With Perth just 30 mins away and Edinburgh, Glasgow and Inverness just a 90 minute drive, Smiddy Cottage is an ideal base from which to explore or just simply sit back, relax and enjoy the scenery. The property is mainly on ground floor, has gas central heating. |
