A couple of miles out of Oban is the Rare Breeds Farm Park, where visitors can view rare breeds of cattle, deer and sheep, and where children can interact with baby animals at the children’s corner. The annual Argyllshire Gathering (featuring the Highland Games) is sure to be a highlight throughout the summer season. Oban also boasts an array of shops, a modern day visitor centre and an excellent distillery offering a guided tour and a welcome dram of whisky. For outdoor enthusiasts, this area offers wonderful walking and climbing for all levels of ability. Watersports are all available locally, with lake, river and sea fishing all close by. Horse riding, pony trekking and cycling are also popular activities, with a golf course within easy reach of the property. During the winter season, skiing is available at Fort William and Glencoe. Places of historical interest to visit include the castles of Dunolie, Ardmaddy and Dunstaffnage - the last mentioned occupying an elevated position at the mouth of Loch Etive.
